Light Sport Aircraft Manufacturer Super Petrel USA and Scoda Aeronautica are hosting a Super Petrel free aircraft mechanics training event. The annual Tri-Fecta aircraft maintenance event will be held for 4 days starting on October 25, 2023. The event will be free for qualified FAA LSRM and A&P aircraft maintainers. Others may attend the event for $400.
The training will focus on the 100 hour (annual) Line Maintenance compliance inspection for the Super Petrel aircraft and Rotax engines.
The first full day session will focus on airmanship and flight safety presented by Bill Gortney. Flying in the wire environment will be presented by Neil Tomlinson of Tomlinson Aviation. Aviation Risk Management will be presented by Dan Pedersen, the Super Petrel Chief Demonstration Pilot. The Super Petrel LS refresher training will be presented by Roger Helton.
The afternoon maintenance session will be presented by Mark Ziegler (Ziggy), Chief of Maintenance and lead Customer Support expert with the focus on what maintenance owners may perform on their own aircraft.
Bill (Shortney), Mark (Ziggy) and Dan (Danno) are all retired US Navy FA-18 pilots. The best of the best.
The second full day will focus on the 100 hour Compliance Inspection check list and cover special interest items to include:
- Rudder stop repair
- Seat attachment repair
- Propeller balancing
- Engine oil and filter change
- Engine and wing torquing
- Landing gear inspection and gas spring testing
- Wheel bearings replacement

The day will conclude with an in-depth behind the scenes look at Scoda Aeronautica and the production of the brand new XP aircraft.
